TIPS/COMMENTS
BY STAN
At car shows this summer I have noticed a lot of the older Mustangs with the EFI ignition system. Owners are installing this system for better fuel economy and easier starting. This will make the car a modified instead of original. Most of the people doing this are much younger and understand the system better than I do.
Summer is going fast but it’s not over yet, so grab the old car and family and join us in the activities that are planned for the rest of the season. Just because your car might not be a top notch show car, come and have fun with us.
Come to Frankenmuth, as we will be parking in designated areas just for us. This is a large show all weekend long with lots of cars and always a big crowd.
Don’t forget our stuffing party on Sept. 9th. This is a time where we can chit chat and look at all the interesting stuff that we are going to give away and have pizza.
We always need help in setting up our show on Sept. 18th and of course our show on the 19th. If you are one of our new members or haven’t been to one of our activities or meetings please introduce yourselves as we might not know you. There are plenty of things to do and none of them are hard. All of them can be turned into a fun time and you are sure to meet people with the same interest as you.
On Oct. 9th at 4 pm Mike and Rebecca Winters are having a club hayride at their home at 9073 Edward Rd., Fostoria. Bring a dish to pass and they will have a bon fire with hot dogs. We are sure to have fun there. Please remember that all club activities are alcohol free.
Remember, don’t be a stranger.

Frost: Well, that’s nothing.

Membership Committee: Rich Svatora reports no new members since last month.
2004 “Run to Birch Run” Mustang Show: Stan Bentley, Show Chairman
Frankenmuth Auto Fest will be Friday, September 10th through Sunday, September 12th. The Club will have a special location for our Mustangs on Friday. On Saturday & Sunday the Mustangs will be in a “pony corral” at Heritage Park. The goal of the Club is to secure a Mustang from each year for the past 40 years.
Nomination Committee: Gary Riley reports a slate of officers for the 2005 election. All officers are running again with the exception of Susan Svatora, Secretary. Diane Williams has agreed to run for the office of Secretary. The nominations were closed at the August meeting. A ballot will be included in the September newsletter; it will have the postage stamp on it for your convenience in returning your ballot. A big thank you to Susan Svatora, retiring secretary for a fantastic job she did this past year.
Goody Bag stuffing party will be on Monday, September 13th starting at 7 pm at the Thetford Township Hall, 4013 Vienna Rd, Clio. The Club will provide the pizza & the September meeting will follow.
Rich Svatora reported on name badges. The sample he had at the meeting had block lettering on gold plate. The price was from $6 to $10.
Plans are being made for a Club hayride. (See related article & map in newsletter.)
MCMM shirts and antenna flags are still available. The shirts are $27.56 and the flags are $15.
Gary Strappazon reported on the Mustang Memories show in Livonia. Five Club members attended the show. Gary Strappazon & Paul Wrigglesworth received trophies & Rich Nash received the President’s Award. Congratulations!
50/50 drawing was won by Ruth Bentley.
Motion was made by Rich Svatora and seconded by Chris Jansen to adjourn. Meeting adjourned at 8:00 pm.
Respectfully submitted, Diane Williams standing in for Susan Svatora, Secretary.
THE PREZ SEZ
This month’s column will highlight 4 important events & detail how we may participate in OUR Mustang Club.
The FIRST in chronological order is the Frankenmuth Auto Fest. The dates are Friday Sept. 10th through Sunday, Sept. 12th. Friday night is the “Mile Long Block Party”. We will have the ability to display 1 car from each year. This display will be at Zehnders Park on Main St. We will be able to enter the park long before the block party begins. There are still several years missing. The years we still need for Friday night are: 1971, 1972, 1973, 1974, 1975, 1976, 1984, 1989, and 1997. I have talked to many Club members and many are sounding positive but have not registered yet. YOU MUST BE REGISTERED FOR THE SHOW TO BE IN THE PARK AS ONE OF THE 40! On Saturday & Sunday the plan is to have the all Mustangs park on the ball field in Heritage Park. If you need to register and need a show flyer call me at (989) 652-4842.
The SECOND event is our goody bag stuffing party. This year it will be held at the Thetford Township Hall on Monday, Sept. 13th at 7 pm. The hall is located at 4014 E. Vienna Rd (M-57) and is 4 miles east of I-75, exit #131. For information call Gary & Linda Riley at (810) 631-6601. This is a great way to meet your fellow Club members, have fun and help on a Club project. The Club will be providing pizza. The more members we have the sooner the job is done.
The THIRD event is our 11th ANNUAL MCMM MUSTANG & ALL FORD SHOW. The setup on Saturday, Sept. 18th will start at 5 pm at the Prime Outlets Mall. The show is Sunday, September 19th. Please be there at 6 am. We expect our biggest & best show yet. We need all the help we can get.
The FOURTH event is the election of officers for 2005. The MCMM By-Laws state “that 8 officers (President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, Car Show Chairman, Membership Chairman, Newsletter Editor & MCA Regional Director) will be elected by a majority vote using ballots from the September newsletter. One ballot distributed per MCMM membership.” The ballots will be returned to the Nominations Committee chairman for counting. This is YOUR Club and YOUR vote, please return your ballots. At the October meeting the election results will be announced.
