TIPS/COMMENTS
BY STAN
I would like to thank Lon and Sandy Hetchler
for putting on the fall color tour. We all had a great time even though the
color was not completely out. The
weather was good the whole weekend with no rain. Lon and Sandy had the whole weekend planned
out and it seemed to work well. There was
plenty of opportunity to eat, starting on Friday evening with lots of pizza. We all had a good time and arrived home
safely. Thanks again.
I sure did enjoy our show this year. It was a lot of work as it was in a new
location. Big thanks to all who helped. Big thanks to Gregg who did a great job of
bringing it all together. There are so many behind the scenes activities that
most of us never see. Thanks Gregg and
Mary.
This year’s Christmas party will be Dec 2nd,
the last few years we have had it earlier in the month so more people can
attend. As it gets closer to Christmas
people have more things to do and find it hard to attend. The $17 may seem high but this also includes
the cost of the building rental. It is
hard to find a place that will hold a group. This is always an easy, enjoyable time where
we can reminisce of all the things that happened over the last year and think
about next year.
One of the newer things for our cars is the
optima battery. This is still a lead
acid battery but the electrolyte is absorbed in a fiberglass mat, like a sponge
between the plates. This keeps the
electrolyte from boiling off. Sometimes
these are called AGM {absorbed Glass Matt} batteries. Most if not all of the new cars have the newer
type batteries. They are not as messy as
the older ones as they are sealed. In
the future, I think we will see the batteries getting smaller and smaller.
Welcome to all the new members, hope to see
you all soon.
I saw Ken Bayard at the Woodward Dream Cruise
and he told me that they were expecting their first child. And she has arrived! Congratulations to Ken and Merri on the birth
of Brooke McKenna Bayard.

We
had over 25 members at the goody bag stuffing party. A great turnout and the bags were stuffed in
record time. The club’s cargo trailer
really did its job. We put our new
tables, all the goody bags and club equipment in the trailer. I see now why we bought it. Thanks to all the members who brought
cookies, pies and other good snacks. The
pizza and pop made it a perfect meal.
Thanks again to all the members that helped.

very big congratulations and thank you go out to Gregg (the teddy bear)
Glaviano for doing a great job in putting on the car show. I really heard some nice comments on the
show. Thanks and appreciation goes to
Mary Leinberger, Gregg’s assistant. Many
other members worked diligently on our car show. Their work and effort were rewarded by the
many positive comments we received about the show. I know I would not be able to list every
member who worked, but you know the great job you did at the show. You are a great group to work with. You all looked like pros doing your job. Thanks, again.
If
you were at the show and have ideas or suggestions for improving the car show,
please take a few minutes to call or e-mail me your thoughts. I am interested in comments on the layout,
what the car show guests had to say and anything to do with the vendors
(location at show etc.). I will pass
this on to the car show co-chairpersons.

NEW ONLINE MAGAZINE
I want to invite you to take a look at
Automotive Traveler Magazine. This magazine
is a first because it is on-line only.
What does that mean? Answer-
there is no hard copy. It is an on-line
magazine that is viewed anywhere in the world.
It is unique, intriguing and informative, so take a look. I contributed to the “Woodward Dream Cruise”
and “Your Car” stories. We plan to
feature many road trips including the ones featuring what we call “Your Car”
where we will have the opportunity to showcase cars like some of yours. The subscription is free.
I also want to tell you that I was able to put
MCMM members Bill & Ada Hoard in the new issue (volume 4) of Automotive
Traveler Magazine. The feature is part
of the Woodward Dream Cruise and Mustang Alley coverage. In addition, there is a more detailed feature
story on this “great and special” couple in the magazine. Yes they will be featured. I can’t disclose additional information but
look for it. Hope you enjoy seeing them
in volume 4 and like the content of the magazine. Remember there is no charge to subscribe or
look at the magazine. The web site is: www.automotivetraveler.com.
