TIPS/COMMENTS
BY STAN
When replacing the carpet in your
mustang you will have to make the holes the seat bolts go through. Rather
than using an Exacto knife which will leave a raw edge, I take a small piece
of 1\4 inch steel rod and lock it into a pair of vice grips. Then I heat it
with a torch. Push the hot steel rod up from the bottom of the floor pan and
through the carpet. This will make a nice round hole and seal the carpet
from fraying. When doing this open both doors & place a fan on one side to
blow the smoke out of the car.
Remember our web site is now up and running and there are lots of pictures
of members’ cars and events. This is our site so anyone can add things to
it, just e-mail Jack Morton with pictures or information. His address is

A big thank you to all of you that helped at our 11th Annual Ford Fest Show
at Birch Run. It is not easy to put on a show of this size, but with
everyone pitching in it sure makes things easier.
Welcome to all the new members, we hope to see you at our functions. Please
introduce yourselves as everyone might not know your names.
Our next event is Oct. 9th and it is the fall hayride at the Winter’s home.
Please be prepared to have fun and eat a lot. All our functions are alcohol
free.
Remember don’t be a stranger.

11TH ANNUAL ALL FORD
& MUSTANG SHOW
REPORTED BY STAN BENTLEY, SHOW CHAIRMAN
The show is over and what a great success it was! It was a success because of YOU! Some of you helped before, some of you helped during and some of you helped after. And there were some that because of other commitments could not be there but we know you had the Show in your thoughts. We couldn’t have ordered a prettier day than what we had. What a great sight to see the sun rising on those pretty Mustangs that were rolling in. The Mustang interest has not died out. And the interest in our Club is continuing with several people wanting information on how to join our Club. How great is that!
Of course there were some glitches but we overcame them easily and will make notes for our future shows.
We had 76 pre-registered cars and a total of 239 registered cars. So apparently our minor price increase had little or no affect on attendance.
In was encouraging to see our “brand new” club members rolling up their sleeves and helping out wherever there was a need.
We had 3 judging lanes open and the cars moved through at a nice pace. Our show site was pretty full but we had room for a few more cars if needed.
The number of vendors increased this year too. And apparently we could have more as that was a question that was asked by participants and spectators alike.
The spectator number increased to over
a 1,000 spectators going through the gate.
When the Show was over there was very little cleanup, I guess Mustangers are
neat people that are neat. We all went to Uno’s Pizza for dinner. We
visited, laughed, celebrated our show and just enjoyed ourselves. And at the
very end we helped Linda Strappazon celebrate her 50th birthday with cake
and ice cream.
One other item regarding the Show - remember way back in June when our Club helped out KCQ with their car show at their Music Fest on Ojibway Island? Well our Club received a considerable “payback”. Becky from KCQ sent our Club an invoice for 66 ads on KCQ for a total of $4,290.00, the invoice was marked “do not pay”. Also included was an invoice for 66 ads for 97.3 JOE for a total of $1,650.00, and it too was marked “do not pay”. This certainly is a tangible return for our Club’s work. Work that is fun and is profitable too, what a deal!!
Although we had a great Show it is already time to start thinking about the Show for 2005. Committees will be set up so that work for the 2005 Show can be done as early as possible.
THANK YOU ALL FOR HELPING PUT ON THIS SHOW!

October Meeting
The October MCMM meeting will be held on Monday, October 18, 20004 at the Bavarian Inn Lodge, 1 Covered Bridge Lane, Frankenmuth, MI at 7:00 pm.
The following is the agenda:
THE PREZ SEZ
Hello to all members!
Wow, Ruth just forwarded the updated membership list…lots of new names.
Welcome aboard to our new members.
The column this month will be a bit different. I want to take time to mention members who have been out showing their cars, working on club projects or contributing to the successes of our events.
First we celebrated the 40th Anniversary of the Mustang at Frankenmuth Autofest. We were well represented with 24 club families and 30 MCMM cars present. In only 7 weeks, we were able to secure 36 of the 40 years of cars! We made quite a statement there on Main Street! We could not have asked for a better location.
This was a much more that I had dreamed of, when I first approached Tony D’Anna, the show chairman about a 40th celebration at Autofest. The last few days it seemed like I was living at the Country Street Machines office! Once again a thank you to Diane Williams, who had made the suggestion at the February MCMM regular meeting. . . .to have a display of all 40 years. We have also had very favorable comments from local Frankenmuth people, to Zehnders, to Autofest show officials, to the Frankenmuth News, to people at church! We have also had very nice comments from people who displayed their cars with us at Zehnders Park. We have been asked if we were coming back next year…all we can say is that we have planted the seed. Stan remarked that we as club showing our cars as a group were able to be very visible and to have more impact than we could have had spread all over the show field on the other side of the river. We were also able to have exposure to other Mustangers and welcome them to the display area. We had three club members’ cars chosen as winners of steins on Sunday, Stan & Ruth’s 1964 ½ convertible, Linda & Gary’s 1995 GT removable hardtop/convertible and Dave & Diana DeSilva’s 2004 Cobra coupe. We had several comments from people who showed their cars sat Friday night was more fun than the Woodward Dream Cruise! Mike Galaster, of Galaster Ford displayed the new 2005 Mustang and boy did it draw the interest.
On Monday evening, the 13th we had our goody bag stuffing at the Thetford Twp hall pavilion. We stuffed 264 bags in 1 hour! We had pizza and we had fun. Thank you to the following who were there and helped: Leif & Melissa, Gregg, Paul & Cynthia, Stan & Ruth, Bill & Ada, Chris, Rich & Susan, Dick, Terry & Carol, Ruthanne, Dominic & Yvonne, Dave & Diana, Diane, Linda & Gary (both pair) new members Martin Torres from Frankenmuth and Jim Waswick from Chesaning.
The following Sunday was our 11th Annual MCMM Mustang and Ford Show. Although the number of vehicles entered was down by 9, the revenue was up, the spectator gate was way up and the raffle revenue was up. I have no idea of how many club cars were on display, there were many and they looked great! Here is the list of club members working on Saturday or Sunday or both: Chris & Mindy, Rich & Susan, Terry, Dominic & Yvonne, Diane, Leif & Melissa, Gary & Linda (again both pair), Tom & Mary Thompson, Jim & Rose, Paul & Cynthia, Ruthanne, Dave & Diana, Dick, Jack & Darlene, Jim Waswick, Bill & Ada, Mike, Wally & Lorrie & sons, and Stan & Ruth. I believe that count was 36. I hope I didn’t overlook anyone. Thank you one and all for a job well done. We then had 26 for dinner at Uno’s restaurant at the Mall. Where we enjoyed our efforts and celebrated a 50th birthday…I wonder who???
As I write this, Wednesday, September 29th, the club is preparing to go to the movies. American Ford in Saginaw is hosting a showing of the original movie “Bullitt” with Steve McQueen. Our club was invited to the showing and asked to drive our Mustangs.
Don’t forget the HAYRIDE AND POTLUCK at Mike & Rebecca Winter’s on Saturday, October 9th. MCMM will furnish the chicken and brats (sound familiar?).
