TIPS/COMMENTS

BY STAN

As this year is slowly coming to an end, there is one more event to look forward to.  Our Christmas party is always a fun time where we can all kick back.  We can get to know the new people and chat with our old friends.  This is a family thing so bring the kids & also the grandkids if you wish.

This is the time of year to have the Mustangs worked on or repaired if needed.

I only know of one person who has their car completely tore down.  Quentin and Pat Levitte are having their 1967 Mustang convertible completely rebuilt. If there are others out there let us know.  If anyone has bought a new or different Mustang let us know that to.

There will not be a regular meeting for the month of November.  The December meeting will be at the Christmas party.

I would like to thank Bill and Ada Hoard for helping us get the newsletter folded and put together.  They are always there and more than willing to help.

Another thank you goes to Lon and Sandy Hetchler for hosting the fall color tour. All of us who went sure had an enjoyable time.

We are planning on going to two MCA National shows next year.  One is in Ohio and the other is in Ontario, Canada.  They both are just a one day drive. If you have never been to a national show this would be a great opportunity to attend one and see what it is all about.  They have classes for every type of car from Concurs Trailered to the daily driver.  Your car does not have to be perfect.

On October 27th several members of our club met at Frankenmuth with the people of the Bavarian Inn.  They discussed the show site and all possible avenues of our planned 2009 National show.  I do not have all the details yet, but I’m sure they will be tweaked and even changed as time goes on.  Those attending were Chris Jansen, Jim Jansen, Gary Strappazon, Charlie Reinhardt Gary Riley, Bob Dillenbeck and Lori Amo.

As another year rolls around dues will be due.  A good time to pay these is at the Christmas party.  They are $20.00 for the year.

Remember don’t be a stranger.

The term “mulligan” is really a contraction of the phrase “maul it again”.

I play in the low 80s. If it’s any hotter than that, I won’t play.

To some golfers, the greatest handicap is the ability to add correctly.

MCMM REGULAR MEETING 10-15-07

Meeting called to order by President Dick Lebsack.  Those present were Board of Directors Charlie Reinhardt, Diane Williams, Gary Strappazon, Stan & Ruth Bentley, Gregg Glaviano and Chris Jansen.  Members present were: Gary Riley, Mary Leinberger, Paul Wrigglesworth, Mike Winter, Lova Reinhardt, Jim Ostrom, Tom Welsh, Jim & Kathy Jansen, Quentin & Pat Levitte and guest Ted Cast who is a friend of Bill & Ada Hoard and came to check out our club.

Our guest speakers were Phil & Katy Smith and Neil Holcomb from the MOCSEM club in Livonia.  They came and gave an extensive, in-depth presentation on what is involved in putting on a MCA national car show.  Their information was very valuable and gave MCMM a lot to think about.

Treasurer’s Report:  was given by Gary Strappazon.  He also gave the income and expense figures from our car show.

MCMM Property Report: Gary Riley presented each board member with a complete inventoried list of the club property that is located in the trailer.  If any member has borrowed any thing that belongs to the club should call Gary Riley at (810) 631-6601.  We now can store all of the MCMM property in one place.

MCA National Show: After the presentation from the MOCSEM members there was a lot of discussion about the show.  A motion by Quentin Levitte that the co-chairpersons get a comparative cost from both Frankenmuth Heritage Park and Birch Run Expo Center and what each venue has to offer.  This information will be presented at the Christmas Party (meeting) in December, 2007.  Motion carried.  A motion was made by Mike Winter that if there are no firm & committed sponsors of at least $8,000 by April, 2008 that we notify MCA that we are unable to host the 2009 show.  Motion carried.

Site Viewing: Gary & Charlie reported that arrangements have been made to meet with the Heritage Park personnel at the park on Saturday, October 27, 2007 at 5:30 pm.

By-Laws and Constitution: In the BOD meeting after some minor spelling corrections and a change in wording to section 3.06 of the by-laws the changes were ratified.  They will be retyped and presented to the membership.  Gregg Glaviano made a motion that there is a mandatory monthly BOD meeting between the months of May through October.  Motion carried.  This change will also be incorporated into the by-laws.

MCMM Show Charity: Mike Winter will contact the Children’s Wish Fund to set up a time that the check presentation can be made.  The amount of our donation this year is $1,300.  Gary Riley will accompany Mike at the presentation.

MCMM Christmas Party: The date is Sunday, December 2nd at the Four Occasions Banquet Hall in Millington.  A full menu will be offered buffet-style with punch and coffee included.  Price is $17 per person.  Make Checks payable to Lon Hetchler.  Checks must be received by Friday, November 23rd.  Lon’s address is 2688 Klam Road, Lapeer, MI  48446

Due to the valuable presentation from MOCSEM and the discussions that followed the meeting was an abbreviated one.

In December at the Christmas Party there will be a short meeting.  The next regular meeting will be Monday, January 21, 2008 at Captain Hook’s in Frankenmuth.

Meeting adjourned at 10:00 pm.

Pat Levitte won the 50/50 drawing.

Respectfully submitted: Diane Williams, Secretary

                                   TIME IS RUNNING . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

ONLY 18 MONTHS UNTIL JUNE, 2009

The Prez Sez

It’s that time of the year.  Today I put the old ’66 to bed for the winter.  It probably was the last beautiful day left in October.  Oh well, April is only 5 months away.

As of October, the MCMM now has the non- profit status, has a constitution and now has all the by-laws put together.  This has been a slow process for the last 3-4 years.  Copies should be available at the Christmas party.  All BOD members are required to have one copy in their possession.  It should be some nice winter fireside reading.  Many thanks should go to the group of BOD members who helped put this important document together.

Be sure to put the last club event for the year on your calendar.  It is the annual Christmas party.  Lon & Sandy Hetchler have put a lot of effort into this annual holiday event.  Please bring a “white elephant” gift to exchange with fellow members.  This is a fun, family event.  More information is found in this newsletter.  You will also have the opportunity to meet your new BOD.  They will be installed that day.  Congratulations to the new BOD.  They are: President – Charlie Reinhardt, Vice President – Lon Hetchler, Treasurer – Gary Riley, Secretary – Diane Williams, Membership Co-chair – Linda Kabobel and Rose Maier, Car show Co-chair – Quentin Levitte and Stan Bentley, Newsletter Editor – Ruth Bentley, MCA Regional Director – Stan Bentley and Past President – Dick Lebsack.

You guys might want to get this on your Christmas list.  The new “Mustang” cologne is now here!  I couldn’t wait so I bought mine at Wal-Mart.  It is available in1 oz and 1.7 oz bottles and is in a dark gray tin Mustang box.  It does not smell like horse sh- - - - either.  I think it is available at the larger Sears stores, CVS and Walgreen’s.

Gary Riley, Property manager is looking for club property that may be in club member’s possession.  He needs to get this on the “years end” inventory.  He is missing the piece of equipment that is used to pound fence stakes.  Call Gary at (810) 631-6601.

It is almost time to send in your annual club membership dues.  In fact, you can do this at the Christmas party.  By paying at the Christmas party, you can save time; it is convenient and saves you a 41 cent stamp and you will continue to receive the famous MCMM newsletter!  The dues are still ONLY $20.  There has not been an increase in the dues since the start of the club.  Many clubs are now charging $30.

First club member to call me after receiving the newsletter at (989) 631-9536 will be eligible to win a brand new 2008 Mustang calendar valued at $12.  This is not a trick question but for real.  I will check to see if you have read the newsletter.  The newsletter editor and spouse are ineligible to enter.  This offer expires 11-15-07.

Dick (Keep Smiling) Lebsack

DUES FOR 2008 WILL BE ACCEPTED AT THE CHRISTMAS PARTY.  THEY ARE STILL ONLY $20 A YEAR!  PLEASE CORRECT ANY NAME CHANGES, MISSPELLED NAMES, NEW MAILING ADDRESSES AND NEW E-MAIL ADDRESSES.  ALSO PLEASE PROVIDE YOUR MCA NUMBER AT THE TIME YOU PAY YOUR DUES.  A NEW MEMBER LIST WILL BE PUBLISHED EARLY IN 2008.  CALL RUTH BENTLEY OR E-MAIL HER WITH ANY CORRECTIONS: (810) 688-3909 OR RMB3909@EARTHLINK.NET.

COLOR TOUR 2007

Sandy and I would like to thank everyone who was able to make the trip this year.  The weather was fantastic, although we were early for the colors this year.  Those that attended were: Lon & Sandy Hetchler, Quentin & Pat Levitte, Stan & Ruth Bentley, Leif & Melissa Johnson and Mike & Rebecca Winter.

Friday started the weekend off well.  Our trip from Midland to Bellaire went very well.  We stopped at the Wellington Farm in Roscommon for a bathroom break and to look at some antiques that were on display.  It was good to find an ice cream freezer as well.  The motel in Bellaire had our club banner hanging to welcome all the horses to the northern corral.

Friday evening had everyone over to Lon and Sandy’s cabin for pizza and refreshments.  Ruth and Pat enjoyed the Red Current Wine and my neighbors enjoyed the cars.  Quentin surprised Pat with a birthday cake.

Saturday had everyone meeting for breakfast and then we left for the first of many photo opportunities starting at Shanty Creek Resort.  A wrong turn by Lon landed us at the U.S. Fisheries Trout Preserve just north of Mancelona.  I’m not sure if the ranger was just in love with his craft or he was in love with the idea of having human company, but we all enjoyed the information.  Melissa was sure the trout in the tank was coming on to her.

We continued north to Dead Man’s hill north of Mancelona.  From this vantage point we were able to see the entire East Jordan River Valley.  Traveling north we visited East Jordan, Charlevois and shopped at Bay Harbor and Petoskey.  The drive down M-119 known as the “tunnel of trees” was in my opinion the best of the cruise.  Miles of twisting, turning road along Lake Michigan was like going back in time.  Our dinner at the famous Legs Inn in Cross Village was enjoyed.  If you have never had the opportunity to visit this part of our state, you owe it to yourself to travel there.  We ended our sight seeing with a stop at the lighthouse at the base of the Big Mac.  Ruth took some fantastic pictures of everyone and their cars.

After our visit to Mackinaw City, Mike and Rebecca left for home and the rest of the troop traveled back to Bellaire for dessert and coffee.  Sunday had us all meeting for breakfast before heading back down state.

Again, thank you to everyone who made the tour this year, and we hope to have more members involved next year.
