Tips/Comments
By Stan

First I would like to thank the Winters’ family for hosting the hayride this year; it was sure a lot of fun. You can see the pictures by going to the web site at www.mustangclubmm.com.

Our next event will be the Christmas party which will be December 11th at the Four Occasions Hall in Millington.

As Regional Director of our club for the Mustang Club of America I get to vote on certain issues. I was sent material regarding the by- law and rule changes that are coming up at the next meeting of the MCA. I voted for them.

It was mostly wording changes that made the by-laws easier to understand. Also I hope that if you are not a member of the MCA that you will consider becoming one.

Most of our women don’t know what to get us for Christmas, so do like I do. I make a list of Mustang stuff that I am going to need and put it up on the refrigerator. They are going to buy us something anyway, just tell them that you don’t expect everything. To make it easier for them, get the catalog and put the item number and the price on the list, then they can shop right over the telephone.

I was sorry to hear that my old friend Ed Freeman has passed away. He was a true Mustang lover.

We can be reached at: rmb3909@earthlink.net

Remember don’t be a stranger.

I don’t do drugs. I get the same effect just standing up fast.
I don’t approve of political jokes. I’ve seen too many of them get elected.
The worst thing about accidents in the kitchen is eating them.

MUSTANG CLUB OF MID-MICHIGAN MEETING 10-18-04

The October meeting was called to order by President, Gary Strappazon at the Bavarian Inn Lodge in Frankenmuth at 7:05 pm. Those in attendance were: Gary & Linda Strappazon, Dick Lebsack, Dominic Glasgow, Carol & Terry Jozwiak, Gary & Linda Riley, Jim & Renee Waswick, Diane Williams, Gregg Glaviano, Rich & Susan Svatora, Tim Mace and Chris & Mindy Jansen. Proxy for Stan Bentley presented.

New Members Introduction: Jim & Renee Waswick and Tim Mace met our Club at the Bullitt Movie Excursion and have since joined the Club.

Treasurer Report: Gregg Glaviano did a detailed presentation of our current financial situation. Gregg will e-mail a copy of the presentation to newsletter editor.

2004 MCMM Car Show Report:

Note: The Capac car show was in direct competition for Mustangs. It is reported that they had 107 Mustangs at their show.

Christmas Party:
It will be on Saturday, December 11, 2004 at the "Four Occasions" hall (formerly known as the American Legion Hall) on Millington Road in Millington. There is no charge for the hall and includes a DJ with karaoke and music. It will be a catered meal that will include 2 meat choices for $15 per person. Planning is continuing for our traditional "gift game" & other games & also door prizes. Make your reservations ASAP with Linda Riley (810) 631-6601 or Carol Jozwiak (810) 686-2398.

Motion by Linda Riley; seconded by Dick Lebsack for $100 for Christmas party favors. Motion passed.

Motion by Linda Riley; seconded by Terry Jozwiak & Linda Strappazon for $400 for Christmas party door prizes, etc. Motion passed.

Motion by Terry Jozwiak; seconded by Gary Riley for MCMM to pay $10 per plate for members at Christmas Party. Motion defeated.

Motion by Dick Lebsack; seconded by Linda Strappazon for MCMM to pay $5 per plate for members at Christmas Party. Motion defeated.

Other Business:
Motion by Rich Svatora; seconded by Linda Strappazon to donate $5,000 to charity (as yet undesignated charity). Motion defeated

Motion by Gregg Glaviano; seconded by Diane Williams to have the Board do a study to review expenses & budget with discovery process with a seven month time limit. Motion passed. Note: Treasurer made report for 2004 car show. Expenses for show were $3,268.31 and income was $5,243.05 along with approximately $3,235 non-show expenses to run the Club during the year. Concern: we would lose a great portion of our monies if we happened to have a "bad weather" year; members advised caution in depleting funds too soon; and to get at least a two year’s average on costs for Club and Show.

Motion by Linda Strappazon; seconded by Dominic Glasgow to hold the November meeting on the third Monday, November 15, 2004. Motion passed.

Charity Committee:
Rich Svatora reports that the "Gate Monies" from the 2004 MCMM show will be donated to VFW "Vets for Vets’ Families" Flushing Post 566 on November 11th at the Flushing Post. Gary is asking club members to pursue publicity for this event, i.e. Channel 5, Saginaw News, Frankenmuth News, Flint News, and Flushing Observer which is owned by Flint Journal. Gregg has neighbors who are Channel 12 employees and will also try to contact them. Stan offered to pay for publicity if necessary (per Gary Riley). Suggestion for next year’s charity will be to look into Spinal Cord Injury recipient/charity.

Election Results:
President: Gary Strappazon
Vice President: Dick Lebsack
Secretary: Diane Williams
Treasurer: Gregg Glaviano
Membership Chair: Rich Svatora
Car Show Chair: Stan Bentley
MCA Regional Director: Stan Bentley
Newsletter Editor: Ruth Bentley

There were 50 ballots mailed out and ONLY 19 were returned!

Miscellaneous:

KCQ BENEFITS: Our club received $16,740 worth of free advertising for our car show for our help with the KCQ Country Fest last June.

BULLITT MOVIE: 15-18 members attended this event. Most of them drove their Mustangs and parked in front of the theatre. After the movie door prizes were given with the grand prize being a color TV.

TELEPHONE LIST: This list is being created by Dick Lebsack by cities so that we can "fan out" and have full communication with other members for events, etc.

NORTHWOOD NEW CAR SHOW: This show featured Stan & Ruth Bentley’s 1964 ½ convertible. Our Club received a call from Northwood’s coordinator seeking a 1964 ½ Mustang and the Bentley’s obliged. Other than the rain, it was a good show and Stan & Ruth made the front page of the Bay City Times.

HAYRIDE: The hayride was attended by 28 members and was deemed a success. Thanks for the fun time!

PHEASANT RUN, IL SHOW: This show is October 22 and 23, see Gary for free tickets.

2005 MUSTANG BROCHURE: MCMM is mentioned on the back cover of the 2005 Mustang Brochure. A copy was available at the meeting for viewing.

SLOAN MUSEUM CAR SHOW: Sloan Museum requested we aid their show as we did with the "Be Cool" show. Gary Strappazon recommended the Club decline, because our Club is busy enough with other commitments. Club members agreed to decline for now.

SOCIAL COMMITTEE: Discussion regarding need for limit in amounts sent for remembrances. General consensus is that no set limit is needed at this time. A suggestion was made to set policy for donation amount and family placement etc.

Motion to adjourn by Rich Svatora; seconded by Linda Strappazon. Motion passed.

Respectfully submitted, Susan Svatora, Secretary

THE PREZ SEZ

Greetings to all MCMM members and friends: This is being written at home, finally after many computer upgrades and a summer of electronic malfunctions. Don’t mistake this for complaining, I am just very happy to have a computer and very happy it is back up and working. The printer still needs a driver to make it compatible with the Windows upgrade I installed. I spoke with Stan after they made it safely to Florida. They just had their hard drive replaced on their Florida computer. That was the same adventure that began my summer of frustrations! You may wonder what this all has to do with MCMM and/or Mustangs; only that we ALL have become very dependent upon electronic communication!

Last month I went through a long litany of notations of who from the Club was where and when. This month I want to extend a BIG THANK-YOU to WALLY WILCOX for securing the beautiful Red fire 2005 Mustang coupe we had at our MCMM annual Mustang Show. It was one of the big hits. Thanks again, Wally.

Speaking of the 2005 Mustang, I saw four 2005 Mustang convertible test vehicles heading northbound on I-75. They looked as good as the 2005 Mustang coupe. Also, Dominic Glasgow should have his 2005 Mustang delivered any day now. The new ones are finally appearing in the dealer showrooms.

We will have a regular membership meeting at the Bavarian Inn Lodge on November 15th as voted by the membership present at the October 18th meeting. We had a lot of business to conduct and had not finished it. That meeting will begin at the usual time of 7:00 pm.

Congratulations to the newly elected officers of MCMM. All were re-elected with the exception of Susan Svatora, who was not able to seek reelection as secretary. Diane Williams was elected as secretary. Congratulations to you, Diane.

There was much discussion of MCMM money at the regular meeting on October 18th. That will be addressed at length by the Board at a board meeting in early December. All board members will meet at a date yet to be determined to formulate a budget for the calendar year of 2005. Also note, that after the October 18th meeting, I directed Gregg as treasurer to put $5,000 into a CD. As you can see by reviewing the Treasurer’s report that this money was put into a CD. Lastly, we will be making our donation of the spectator gate receipts of $1,182.05 to the Flushing VFW Soldiers Family Fund. We will make this presentation on Veteran’s Day, Thursday, November 11, 2004 at their Post in Flushing. Any MCMM members and friends who would like to attend are welcome and encouraged to attend. Please call Gary (989) 652-4842 for details.

Gary Strappazon

Clarence E. "Eddy" Freeman

April 10, 1920 – October 9, 2004

Ed Freeman was an active member in the MCMM Club since August, 1997. Even though he was a 23-year GM employee, the minute he first saw a Ford Mustang, he knew he’d found his true automotive love.

Over the years he had owned numerous Mustangs that he fixed up and sold but his all-time favorite was his 1968 blue Mustang convertible. In his honor it was part of his funeral procession.

Ed was a very congenial person who loved to take his car to shows. Until just recently he took an active roll in the Club, hosting the summer picnic and working at the annual car show.

His friendliness will be missed by all that knew him.
