I have had two people call about the Mustang club lately. At first I thought that they were interested in joining, however it seems that they were more interested in getting all the members names and information so that they could sell us something. All of the member’s information that we have and put on the roster that was mailed to the members is private and should be treated as such. This information is for our personal use, so we may contact one another, send the newsletter and communicate club business. Please treat others members information as you would your own.
Our next club outing will be the Show and Shine on May 20th. This is where we display our cars and the public can bring their cars also. I am told there will be a few awards, but mostly this is just a time to get the cars out and do some cleaning if you want to. If you just want to chat and kick tires that is ok to. The Veterans of Saginaw will be there also, and maybe the Boy Scouts will cook a hot dog. I know of several people that have been working on their cars most of the winter and I would like to see them there.
There were four of us that went over to the Prime Outlets mall on Monday. They have new management this year and we just wanted to touch base with them. They want to have us and the Mustang show there again this year. At this point & time everything seems like a go for our show again this year. Now is the time to be thinking & planning for the show, which will be Sept 17th.
The next monthly meeting will be one week later on May 22nd.
Remember don’t be a stranger.
Golf is harder than baseball. In golf, you have to play your foul balls.
The best wood in most amateur’s bag is the pencil.
A "gimme" can best be defined as an agreement between two golfers… Neither of whom can putt very well.
The greatest sound in golf is the woosh, woosh, woosh of your opponents club as he hurls it across the fairway.

This is a nation wide organization that volunteers to minister and give support to those that participate in the sport of racing. They volunteered their services at our show.
The minutes of March 20, 2006 and the Treasurer’s report of March 20, 2006 were approved.
Property Chairman: Gary Riley needs a list of club property and where it is.
Membership Chairman: Chris Jansen announced that the membership drive competition has started. It will run from April thru November. The winner will receive MCMM Logo polo shirt. The goal is to have a total of 100 families.

"Be Cool" Car Show: July 7 & 8 are the dates. MCMM is in charge of the cruise on Friday night. The car show is Saturday and our MCMM team will again participate in the Pit Crew Competition. Pre-registration is $15 for the 2 days. There is an additional fee of $5 for the cruise.
Michigan State Police Car: The project is going forward. We have had offers of materials and labor to work on the car.
KCQ Musicfest: We have been informed that MCMM will not be needed this year. Gary Strappazon will write them a letter thanking them for their support in the past and that we enjoyed working with them and if we can be of any help in the future we would be glad to do so.
Spotlight Members: Charlie Reinhardt has forms for members to fill out. We would be happy to know your story and feature your car.
MCMM Charity for 2006 Show: Our charity committee – Gina Dillenbeck, Del Zimmerman and Mike Winter started with a list of 9 charities and narrowed the list to 3. They are: Lutheran Home of Michigan, Children’s Wish Fund and Teen Challenge of Mid-Michigan. The club voted to support Children’s Wish Fund. We will keep the other charities in mind for next year.
2nd Annual Show & Shine: This will be held at Saginaw Valley Ford, Lincoln, and Mercury on Bay Road in Saginaw on Saturday, May 20th. Registration fee is $10.00 with the proceeds going to Saginaw County Veteran’s Memorial. There will be prizes, vendors and the grill will be fired up. Contact Ron Loudenslager at 800-479-8651.
Leelanau County Pony Cruise: The dates are June 23-25. Members participating should get their reservations at Maple Lane Resort as soon as possible. The cost is $89 per night. For reservations call (231) 334-3413.
Mike Winter: He spoke about his most recent Mustang purchase. It seems he was asked to put a value on a 1977 Mustang that was for sale. So Mike did. On his way home the people called him and inquired if he would like to buy the car. He did. This makes 4 Mustangs that Mike owns. Rebecca is thrilled.
Bay City Motor Company: They offered to sponsor a detailing class for our club. More information will follow.

THE PREZ SEZ
We are getting into the high activity months. Don’t you just love it! There is something to do for everyone. Check out the upcoming events calendar in the newsletter.
Our first event is our 3rd annual Show & Shine. We are co-sponsoring with Saginaw Valley Ford on Saturday, May 20th at Saginaw Valley Ford on Bay Road in Saginaw. We are in charge of the registration & Saginaw Valley Ford will get the prizes. They will choose the winning cars and hand out the prizes. This event is open to all cars & trucks so bring some friends & enjoy the fun. Registration is $10 & the proceeds will be donated to Saginaw County Veteran’s Memorial Fund. Last year we gave them $700.
Our club is again participating in the Bavarian Festival & Parade June 10-11. We are signed up to use Zehnder Park for Saturday and Sunday to display our favorite ponies. On Saturday at 6:00 pm we will eat as a group at Zehnder’s restaurant in a private dining room. Gary Strappazon and I need to know in advance how many members are going to the dinner. Please call before June 5th. Gary’s phone: (989) 652-4842 and Dick’s phone: (989) 631-9536. Our club can have up to six Mustangs for the parade on Sunday with additional Mustangs to be used for parade dignitaries. We will decide which cars to use on Saturday. If interested in using your car, let us know. A big THANK YOU to Gary for doing a great job getting this event put together. This should be another fun weekend.
The MCMM is not working as judges for KCQ Music Fest this year. They said they are "going in a different direction". That leaves June 17th as an open date. Bring ideas/suggestions to our May meeting and we will discuss it.
Take note that our May meeting scheduled for May 15th has been moved to May 22nd. We will meet at the Bavarian Inn Lodge as usual.
We have a nice group of members going on the Leelanau County Pony Cruise June 23-25. With a mixture of newer and classic cars, we should have a very good time. If you are interested give me a call at:
(989) 631-9536.
The charity for our car show in September has been chosen. It is the Children’s Wish Fund located at The Development Office, One Hurley Plaza, Flint, MI. More information about this fine charity will be in a future newsletter. A big thank you to Gina Dillenbeck, Mike Winter, Del Zimmerman & Linda Riley and others for their committee work to select the charity. Thank you for your input.
I would like to welcome our new members to the MCMM: Joseph & Nancy Babiasz of Huntington Woods. Joe was a presenter of the Car Collector Seminar in March. Al Rogers & Diane Williams attended that class. The other family is Richard & Emily Uhlmann and their 2 children of Bay City. They have signed up for the Leelanau County Pony Cruise. Welcome to all of you and we look forward to meeting you at our meetings and events.
Keep smiling,
Dick Lebsack

IN THE HERD SPOTLIGHT
This time we get to meet
Camille & Eugene Short from Caro, MI. On June 12th they will celebrate their 2nd anniversary. They have 2 children, Eugene in VA and Ashley, right here in our own backyard of Millington!Their Mustang is a 1965 red (is there any other color?) convertible. It has a 289 with unknown actual miles. They were quite tight-lipped about any other options on the vehicle. So we will have to pay attention to the car and ask them A LOT questions about it.
A "fun in the sun" couple that enjoy driving their Mustang, golfing and riding Gene’s 1977 Harley Sportster. The other interest that they list is trains (though there was no mention of them being full-size or collector) and scrap booking that allows them to keep all those precious memories alive!

IN THE HERD SPOTLIGHT
This time we get to meet
Stan & Ruth Bentley from North Branch, MI. Stan is retired from General Motors – Delphi Division with 35 years and Ruth is retired from the State of MI – Dept. of Social Services with 32 years. They have a daughter and 2 grandsons that live in CA.Their Mustang is a 1968 Tahoe Turquoise California Special. Stan bought the car on the Internet from CA. He is the third owner. He had the car shipped to MI via a trucking service. There was paperwork in the glove box indicating the price when the car was first purchased new. She paid $2,471.04. Unfortunately, Stan had to pay more then that for the car. The California Special is a rare car with only about 4,200 cars built. Stan & Ruth have taken this car to numerous MCA National shows, always driving the car – not trailering it. They have earned enough points to get the Grille Medallion from MCA. This is a unique award as it lists their names, the car year and the VIN number. For every Gold Award at the MCA shows you get 2 points and for a Silver Award you get 1 point. You need 20 points to get the Medallion. Needless to say they went to shows for a number of years to obtain the needed points.
They also have a 1964 ½ convertible, a 1967 Fastback and a 1993 Limited Edition, Triple White convertible (kept in Florida).
Stan & Ruth winter in Englewood, FL and live in the same park as club members Bill & Ada Hoard. They also belong to a Mustang Club in FL and enjoy going to car shows, cruises and other activities with the both the MI and FL Clubs.

It’s nice to see Hertz is back to renting a weekend racer. Hertz will get it’s own hopped-up Mustang to rent out. The car-rental Co. and Ford are set to unveil their own 330 horsepower Carroll Shelby-modified Mustang. The Shelby GT-H won’t be in showrooms; it will be available only as a rental and only at some Hertz locations. There will only be 500 in the fleet.
Get involved with Chris Jansen’s membership drive. He wants (and so do we) to get the club up to 100 families. He has a great prize for the winner.
Speaking of joining, if you haven’t joined the Mustang Club of America (MCA), now is a good time. Our club gets a $10 rebate when you join. Stan Bentley has the applications and he will give you
a complimentary Mustang Times magazine when you join. Call Stan: (810) 688-3909
Seraphim Pallas donated a pair of NOS spotlights for Project 92 (MSP/MCMM patrol car project).Seraphim says that they are the correct ones for that car. They were manufactured by Unity Co.
in Chicago and they are post mounts units in the original box. Thank you very much Seraphim for the donation. Seraphim has a MSP car just like the project 92.
