TIPS/COMMENTS

BY STAN

It looks like the biggest thing in the automotive world is the 40th Anniversary of the Mustang. As most of you know Ruth and I are in Florida this winter and there are lots people from here that are going to Nashville. There is one couple who has a ‘66 convertible and they are pulling a period correct Apache camper. They plan on continuing on with the great American Pony Drive. This Drive will be over 12,000 miles long with 280 mustangs joining somewhere along the way. To learn more about this go to http://wwwponydrive.us/court.

We as a club are planning the Nashville trip also, and plan on meeting up with the West MI Group. See other details in this letter. Any one can go with us, whether a club member or not. You don’t even have to have a Mustang. You should have your car in the best shape that it can be, and you might even take some extra parts along. They don’t sell all the parts for older cars everywhere so it could be hard to find parts for older cars along the way. Our own member and parts man Paul Steinborn will be there, so look him up if you get a chance.

From looking at the pictures of the 2005 model Mustang it sure looks like a great winner. One of the things that I never liked about the late model cars was the fact that the gas filler was on the right. Now I see that it is on the left. Keep in mind as a group we can do anything.

Remember don’t be a stranger.

Some men contemplate too much on what they have done for others, and not enough on what others have done for them.

To talk of the weather is nothing but folly; when it rains on the hill, it suns in the valley.

A man was telling his neighbor, “I just bought a new hearing aid, it cost me $4,000 but it is state of the art.” “Really”, answered the neighbor, “What kind is it?” “Twelve thirty", answered the man.

THE PREZ SEZ

It was a pleasure to see Ruthanne Garno at our February meeting. We are also pleased to have the continued support from Ruthanne and Andrew Garno (Garno Brothers Heating and Cooling) as one of our sponsors for our show.

Rich Svatora and I were at Autoworld on Saturday, February 28th. We were able to pass out 500 MCMM show flyers. WE ARE ALREADY 1 SHOW AND 500 FLYERS AHEAD OF LAST YEAR! We had a great time and walked around for about 6 hours. We met up with former club members; Phil & Janet Gifford from Swartz Creek. They are both in good health and all smiles (naturally). They pass on their best to the club.

I am still seeking MCMM Club members’ MCA #’s to keep on file to be sure we have the required number to maintain MCA Regional Club status. This is extremely important when it comes to MCA insurance, etc for our show. Please call (989) 652-4842 or e-mail strappazong@yahoo.com with your info. Thank you.

We are working on two events for MCMM: we may possibly be working with a local Ford dealer with their grand opening. We are also working with the Frankenmuth Auto fest people to do something special at that show to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of the Mustang. Stay tuned for more information.

Speaking of the Mustang 40th Anniversary Show in Nashville, TN, the show is in the final stages of planning. The actual show location is the Nashville Speedway, located in Lebanon, TN. We have been in contact with both Tim Grahl, president of MOCSEM, and Mike Jones, immediate past president of West MI Mustang Club. We will be joining the “Mustangs in Motion” mid-west caravan on Wednesday, April 14th en route in Auburn, IN. That will be exit 129 on SB I-69. The time is set to meet at 9:15-9:45 am for that stop. We will leave the Clio Big Boy parking lot at 6:00 am on April 14th. We will have a 175 mile trip to complete in comfortable 2:45 hours. This is all freeways at an average speed of 64 mph. We have a 30 minute cushion built in to our schedule. We have rooms reserved in Horse Cave, KY for Wednesday night. We will leave Thursday morning for a rendezvous with all the other caravans to continue on to the speedway. We all will be there for the opening ceremonies of the 40th Anniversary celebration. Non-MCA or non-MCMM members are welcome to accompany us. If you know of anyone who is interested please have them contact me at (989) 652-4842 or e-mail strappazong@yahoo.com.

HERE IS WHAT IS DUE

THIS IS A REMINDER THAT YOUR DUES ARE DUE.

The dues for all Mustang Club of Mid-Michigan members are due January 1, 2004, regardless of when you last paid your dues. This is due to the recently ratified by-laws. As stated n Article #1, “Dues for the calendar year of January-December are to be paid to the Treasurer by February 28th”.

Regardless of when and/or how this is instituted, some will not be happy. The Board is implementing this as passed by the membership. The purpose of having everyone’s dues all due at the same time is to free up Board members’ time at other seasons of the year, to give the Board a projected income amount so as to write an annual budget and to simplify the books and the record keeping.

Also remember, this applies to the Board members also. We all have to pay now, even thought some Board members just paid their dues recently.

Gary Strappazon, President on behalf of the Board of Directors.
