TIPS/COMMENTS BY STAN
Over the holidays I decided that I
should get all of my old car magazines in order and in a new place. They
were scattered around the house, piled here and there, some were stacked,
and some were laid aside for some special article that I especially wanted
to keep.
“Mustang Monthly” and “Mustang and Fords” have been around for ten years or
more and that is a lot of magazines. Every time that I picked one up there
was an article that was very interesting or one that I had been looking for.
The nice part is that I sure had a good time looking through all the old
magazines. The bad part is that most of them are still in the same place
that they were. Maybe that is not all bad.
Back a few years ago it seems everyone
was making their car original, where now it seems everyone wants a restomod
or a personal car of their own ideas.
One of our members, Chris Jansen found a Mustang parts car and asked me to
help him go and get it. Going to get a parts car is always an adventure and
so I said yes. You always imagine a parts car as being nicer than it is.
When we got there it was so bad that when we were pulling it up on the
trailer it started to come apart in the middle. We got it back to his house
and I decided that I should be going on my way. I knew that his wife, Mindy
would be very excited about this great find.
Those that are members of the MCA and get the Mustang Times know that Arley Whitsell is the new president.

DECEMBER CHRISTMAS PARTY
The December Christmas party and Installation of Officers was held on Saturday, December 11, 2004 at the Four Occasions Hall in Millington, MI.
Those present were: Gary & Linda Riley, Jack & Darlene Morton, Jim & Renee Waswick & daughter Gabrielle, Bill & Ada Hoard, Dick & Nyla Lebsack, Don & Judy VanSickle, Stan & Ruth Bentley, Mike, Rebecca, Michael & Olivia Winter, Gary & Linda Strappazon & family guests Dave, Missy, Jaden & Xavier Ekseth, Dominic Glasgow & Yvonne Brown, Tom Welsh & son Colin, Tim & Judy Mace and Chris & Mindy Jansen.
As you entered the hall Gary Riley gave each man a raffle ticket and each person also had to guess the number of Hershey’s kisses in the snowman jar. Punch and appetizers were available. Tim Mace asked the blessing before everyone started through the food line. I guess you could say there was food there from “soup to nuts”. A very delicious potato soup was the first food at the table. During the time that everyone was enjoying the food. Gary & Linda Riley started to draw raffle ticket numbers. When your number was announced you went to the prize table and selected whatever you wanted from a wide array of gifts.
Prior to the start of the games Linda Riley called Bill Hoard to come to front of the hall. Linda informed everyone of a milestone birthday that Bill would be celebrating on February 9th. Bill will be 80 years old. She presented him with his first “birthday kiss” and a balloon bouquet.
At the end of the meal when every family had had a chance to go to the prize table, the second game started. They placed chairs in a row similar to “musical chairs” and the family member that had not gone to the prize table was asked to sit in one of the chairs. Then the “musical chair” game was started with “Mustang Sally” music. There was a goodly amount of shoving, pushing and manipulating as one-by-one the chairs were removed. As each person was eliminated they received a gift box of cookies. It got down to two people - the oldest Mustang Club member, Bill Hoard and the youngest Mustang Club member, Mindy Jansen!! If your money was on the youth well you just haven’t been around that Bill Hoard long enough. Yes, Bill won the game and received a Mustang Monopoly game.
There was a 3-way tie for the “candy guess” game. Ruth Bentley & Jack Morton guessed 96 & Darlene Morton guessed 98. The correct number was 97
Everyone had an opportunity to buy a 50/50 ticket and this year beside the 50/50 money you had a chance to win one of two Mustang shirts donated by Stan Bentley. Dick Lebsack won the 50/50 money. Chris Jansen & Dick Lebsack won the shirts.
The final game of the evening was the “gift game”. Lots of people made an effort to wrap their gifts “uniquely”. One gift was sealed in a paint can! Another gift was in a National Parts Depot box. As it happens each year there are a couple gifts that are handed back and forth causing much dismay and delight.
Finally, there was music available for dancing.
A VERY BIG THANK YOU to Gary & Linda Riley for hosting this year’s Christmas Party. You guys did a superb job of making our annual Christmas Party a fun time.

THE PREZ SEZ
We have just completed our 11th year. The MCA has completed its 28th year. The Mustang has just completed its 40th year. Our Mustang Club of Mid-Michigan Club has concluded its first year with an elected Board of Directors, operating with a Constitution and By-Laws. We had a very successful 2004. We greatly anticipate an equally successful 2005. We have experience at almost all positions on the Board. All the Board members were reelected at nearly every position, except for Diane Williams, who replaces Susan Svatora as Secretary. Thank you Susan for the great job you did as Secretary.
In 2005 we will continue with:
We said goodbye to some old friends and we have welcomed many new ones. Membership has grown approximately 25% during 2004. We expect that growth to continue.
Finally, a great big THANK YOU to Gary & Linda Riley and Carol & Terry Jozwiak for all the work they did for our Christmas Party. The Christmas party had a new look, a new location, a new menu and lots of fun and fellowship. The job was very well done. Linda & I can not remember a party we enjoyed more. Also, congratulations to Bill Hoard, the Musical Chair Game survivor. Bill, as he nears 80, won a Mustang Monopoly game that celebrates the original and only surviving Pony Car, that is half his age!
Linda & I wish you all a Happy New Year and continued good fortune. Keep the Mustangs covered for a couple more months.
