TIPS/COMMENTS
BY STAN
Our new president, Dick Lebsack told me that he had a headlight problem and asked my advice. After much brain storming we decided that we should have a question and answer forum in the newsletter. I will try and answer questions on the early cars. 1964 1/2 to 1973. We have other people that can answer questions also. E-mail questions to me at rmb3909@earthlink.net or the web site. If you have something you would like to share with the membership that also can be printed here.
Now for the headlight question, I told Dick that I thought he needed a new headlight switch. The switch performs several functions. It is a fuse that protects the lighting system. There is also a reostate that brightens or dims the dash lights plus turns on the headlights and tail lights. All components of the lighting system are about 40 years old. To get the switch out is a little tricky. First you have to reach under the dash and find the light switch. There is a little button on the side of it. Push the button while pulling out on the on-off knob; this may take some twisting and pulling. Once it is out you can turn the Bessel off on the front and lower the switch from the back. Then unplug it from the wiring harness. Once this is done you will see how it all goes back together. If the dash lights are still dim, you might want to think about changing the little bulbs in the dash. They are also 40 years old, and most likely some are burned out or are making a bad electrical connection.
Thinking about a new Mustang or even a Roush Mustang see our member salesman, Ron Loudenslager at Saginaw Valley Ford Mercury.
Remember don’t be a stranger.

something.

A NOTE OF THANKS
Friends,
Thanks to all who attended the Christmas Party. You made it a fun event by your enthusiastic participation. Special thanks to those who contributed to the success of the party by sharing their talents with us.
I would also like to thank you for the many sympathy cards I received after the loss of my brother. Also, the kind words and warm hugs I received at the party were a comfort.
See you in the spring!
Linda and Gary Riley
THE PREZ SEZ
We are off to another fun year. We have some more opportunities for members to have some fun……eating of course!
Our 1st, hopefully not our last, Chili Potluck is Saturday, February 11th at Midland Community Center in Midland. (See directions in newsletter.) Bring a crock pot, pail or tub of chili (canned Hormel if you wish) and a salad or dessert to pass. We have enough electric outlets for everyone’s pot! The club will supply the plates and bowls. We will swap stories, lies, eat chili, trade die cast cars, Mustang memorabilia or go swimming in the giant swimming pool. The pool is available for $4 per person in groups of four or more. You don’t have to bring the Mustang unless you want to. The cost is $5 per family to help offset the cost of the room. We have about a dozen families signed up. (Kids, friends are welcome.) Please call me at (989) 631-9536 so I can have some idea of how many members will be in attendance. Don’t forget the swimming suit.
We have six couples interested in the Leelanau County pony cruise June 23-25. If we have five or six that want to do this then it’s a big go! Some of the couples that have signed up have been in Leelanau County and know of its beauty. I would like to have a total count of members going some time by the end of March. The plan is to stay at the Maple Lane Resort on beautiful Glen Lake, (231) 334-3413; www.maplelaneresort.com. There is a very nice gathering room we can use for our meetings, snack and hanging out. The cost is $89 per night. When you make reservations, let Bob, the manager of Maple Lane know that you are part of the Mustang Club Pony Trail Cruise. I can supply directions to Maple Lane. We can caravan up together on Friday. The plan is to arrive at the Maple Lane Resort sometime on Friday, June 23rd and gather for a campfire in the evening. After Saturday morning breakfast we can get on the road touring mostly on M-22 going around the northern tip of the county. Bring your camera! We will stop for photos, sight seeing, Leland, lunch, lighthouse, Northport, Suttons Bay and may eat at the Boone Docks restaurant. On Sunday we can leave for home at anytime. Call me if you have some questions. (989) 631-9536.
I must remind everyone about their dues. They are due now! It’s the best $20 you will spend. This is one of the best deals for $20 - news and opportunities to enjoy common fellowship around a great car! Send your dues to Tim Mace, Treasurer at 2462 David Street, Saginaw, MI 48603.
Keep smiling,
Dick Lebsack
