TIPS/COMMENTS
BY STAN

Well it’s that time of year again, to think about working on the Mustang. Checking the parts catalogs to see what is new and how about e-bay, great buys there. Also think about our parts man and fellow club member, Paul Steinborn he carries a lot of parts for the earlier model Mustangs. Now is the time to do it, spring will be here soon.
Have you been thinking about going to the 40th Anniversary of the Mustang? It’s almost past time for that, however if you want to go now is the time to get moving.
I got an e-mail from the MOCSEM Club, wanting to know if we would like to caravan to TN, with them. This will be discussed at the February meeting. The 40th Anniversary promises to be one big event, and it won’t happen again for another five years.
I am glad to see that we have another event this year. This is the show at Bay City in July. This should give us much exposure as a club, and will give more people a chance to participate and let others know who we are as a club.
To the new members I say welcome and if I can ever help any anyone please call or e-mail. Together we can do anything.
Remember don’t be a stranger.
What color is the purple finch? Bright red.
How long was the hundred year’s war? 116 years, from1337 to 1453
What is a camel hair brush made of? Squirrel fur.

THE PREZ SEZ

What a nice turn out we had at the January MCMM meeting. We had 11 people including new members Tim & Diane Holcomb from Linden. As yet they have no Mustang but they are looking for an early one. They are both teachers in the Lake Fenton school district. Also, it was nice to see and talk briefly with Dominic Glasgow. He has not been able to be Mustanging with us for the past few months. Also Dominic, thanks for taking the minutes of the meeting.
Was anyone else able to attend the NSIAS? I went on Thursday, January 15th, arriving at 11:30 a.m. to find the Joe Lewis garage already full! It is nice to see the people supporting the show. I was overwhelmed at the crowds around the Ford displays. I have since talked to numerous other people who attended and they all remarked at the numbers of people around the Ford displays. What can you say about the 2005 Mustang? It looks like a sure winner.
As you recall, we were seeking the MCMM financial records for the years 1996, 97, 98 and 99. They have finally been turned over. The records are now with a CPA for review and further action. We as a Club are closer to resolving our past problems and answering those nagging financial questions.
MCMM needs 10 Club memberships with the Mustang Club of America to continue as a MCA Regional Club. To confirm that we have these, please telephone Gary at: (989) 652-4842 or e-mail: strappazong@yahoo.com with your MCA membership number.
To you MCA members, look closely at your 2/2004 “Mustang Times”. This will be Steve Glover’s last issue as editor. MCA has chosen to contract with one of the leading magazines in the industry for the “Mustang Times”. There promises to be many changes.
There have been many comments and discussions regarding the MCMM 2003 Show awards. To say the least, they were innovative, eye-catching and unusual. Well, hearty congratulations should go out to our 2003 Trophy committee, as Bronner’s marketing has chosen to use our award in their world-wide advertising for their custom ornaments. They are helping to spread the word and logo of MCMM!
We will be discussing the 40th Anniversary of the Mustang Show April 16-18 at the Nashville Speedway. There appear to be 4-5 families who will be attending. Paul Steinborn will be there selling parts also. We need to decide if we want to caravan with others, perhaps West Michigan or caravan alone. Also, should we drive it in one day or stay a night in route? Think about this and let us know at the February 16th meeting.
Dick Lebsack and I attended the January 21st meeting of the “Be Cool” car show in Bay City. We had the Club’s authorization to join, if we thought it in our Club’s best interest. We were quite impressed and jumped on. We will discuss this further at the February meeting. Amazingly, Dick was able to come in relatively cold, and offered 3 suggestions to the “Be Cool” committee. They were happy and equally impressed and very grateful. So mark your calendars for July 10-11, 2004.
Also, mark your calendars for September 4-6, 2004. That is when the MCA Grand National show will be held in Springfield, IL One can only guess when another Grand National show will be 450 miles from the Tri-cities. Stan & Ruth are going and I believe I will be going also.
Rich Svatora and I are going to Autorama at Cobo on February 27, 28 or 29th. We will be distributing MCMM show flyers. Let us know if you want to go with us.

Gary Strappazon

HERE IS WHAT IS DUE

THIS IS A REMINDER THAT YOUR DUES ARE DUE.
The dues for all Mustang Club of Mid-Michigan members are due January 1, 2004, regardless of when you last paid your dues. This is due to the recently ratified by-laws. As stated in Article #1, “Dues for the calendar year of January-December are to be paid to the Treasurer by February 28th.
Regardless of when and/or how this is instituted, some will not be happy. The Board is implementing this as passed by the membership. The purpose of having everyone’s dues all due at the same time is to free up Board members’ time at other seasons of the year, to give the Board a projected income amount so as to write an annual budget and to simplify the books and the record keeping.
Also remember, this applies to the Board members also. We all have to pay now, even though some Board members just paid their dues recently.
