TIPS/COMMENTS

BY STAN

Well it’s spring, at least on the calendar.  Still a bit chilly but I have heard that several people have gotten their cars out of storage and taken them for a road test.  Hopefully, all the bad weather is behind us.

There are lots of things coming up to do with the Mustang Club. Look at the upcoming events listed in this month’s newsletter.  Two of the things coming up in May that I would like to tell you about are the Show & Shine at Saginaw Ford and the Frost Bite tour.  The Show & Shine will be on May 17th and is usually the first time out for most of us.  Bring your car and family if you want. There will be food to eat and you can always look at the new cars at the Saginaw Ford dealership.  We get to park out in front for everyone to see.  The Frost Bite tour will be May 31st.  We will start at the X-Way restaurant, which is on the East side of Birch Run.  We will leave the restaurant at 8:00 am sharp and we have several stops planned that should be interesting.  We have eating stops planned for later in the day. If you plan to have breakfast before we leave try and get there at 7:15, otherwise be ready to go at 8:00. Everyone will get a copy of where we are going, so no one loses the group.

In June there is a national show in Columbus Ohio. This is a one day drive and lots of fun. Ruth and I are already registered and have hotel reservations. If you think that you would like to go there is still time to register. In August there is a national show in Ontario and is also a one day drive. I have heard that you will not need a passport to go to Canada, to be on the safe side I would get one.

All members will get a ballot to vote this month.  Please return it as soon as possible so we can get this issue behind us.

Remember don’t be a stranger.

MCMM REGULAR MEETING 03-17-08

President Charlie Reinhardt called the meeting to order.  Those attending were: Dick Lebsack, Quentin Levitte, Lon Hetchler, Diane Williams, Gary Riley, Rose Maier, Linda Kabobel, Del Zimmerman, Leif & Melissa Johnson, Ricky George and his grandmother, Arloa Carlson, Mike Winter, Charlie & Lova Reinhardt, Bob & Gina Dillenbeck, Jim Jansen, Ron Loudenslager, Jim Church.  Proxies for Stan Bentley & Jack Morton were received.

Mike Winter introduced his guest Danita Roberts from Children’s Wish Fund.  The Children’s Wish Fund has been serving children for 15 years.  Their overhead is about two percent; the rest goes to the children.  These are children that have life threatening diseases.  They get treatment in Genesee County although they may live anywhere in Michigan.  The Children’s Wish Fund is the charity for the MCMM 2008 car show.

Treasurer’s report was read and received by MCMM.

President Charlie Reinhardt made one correction to the February minutes.

Property: Gary Riley is asking for someone in the club to take over the property chairmanship.  Gary has three jobs for MCMM.  Contact Gary at (810) 631-6601.

Membership: Linda Kabobel has looked into getting more window clings.  Linda also volunteered to take over club clothing and merchandise chairman.  A big thank you to Linda.  She has window clings, car magnets, license plates and now club jackets and clothing.  You can reach Linda at (989) 791-5020.  Club clothing may be obtained at Coupar Creations, Frankenmuth (989) 652-6787.

National MCA 2009 Car Show: Charlie Reinhardt reported that we have some possible sponsorships but no money in hand yet.  The vote to make the final decision to proceed with the national show will be taken at the April MCMM meeting.

MCMM annual Mustang & All Ford Show: Quentin reported that we have some committed sponsorships for our annual show.  Also the insurance for the show has been obtained.  Quentin told about a show he attended while in Florida where the club members designed and built homemade trophies for special categories.  He is wondering if there are MCMM members that have good imaginations and could think of some funny classifications and then make homemade trophies.  Who out there is artistic and imaginative?

Show & Shine: will be held on Saturday, May 17th at the Saginaw Valley Ford, 4201 Bay Rd., Saginaw from 10:00 to 2:30 pm.  Proceeds will be donated to Saginaw County Veteran’s Memorial Fund.

Bavarian Pony Corral Car Show:  This will be at Zehnder’s Park on June 14-15.  There is a $10 registration for both days.  The club will have dinner at Zehnder’s restaurant Saturday evening.

MCMM BOD Meeting: A letter was received from one member calling for the resignation of another member.  The BOD has decided to send the matter to the general membership for their vote on expulsion or non-expulsion.  The vote will be taken in the month of April.  A ballot is enclosed in the April newsletter.

Meeting adjourned

Respectfully submitted, Diane Williams, Secretary

TIME IS RUNNING . . . . . . . . . . .

ONLY 13 MONTHS UNTIL JUNE, 2009

THE PREZ SEZ

Well spring is here!  I saw two robins fighting in the flowerbed while two cardinals watched from the fence just above them.  The squirrels are chasing each other while trying to stay one step ahead of the dogs!  So, I guess my point is; it won’t be too long before the cars come out and the car show season begins.  Our first show will be at Saginaw Valley Ford for our annual Show and Shine on May 17th.

Speaking of shows, Quentin and Stan are hard at work putting together this year’s annual show.  It will be held at the Birch Run Expo Center on September 14th.  It looks like it is going to be a great show!  At our April meeting we will be discussing the national show and taking a final vote on whether to proceed.  So plan to be at the meeting, your input is important.

In this month’s newsletter you will find a “Special Vote” ballot.  To have your vote count, please follow the instructions that are listed on the ballot.  Your vote counts.

My wife, Lova has received her first chemotherapy and seems to be doing pretty well.  She has three more scheduled treatments, carrying her into June before she is finished.  She is handling all this pretty well and is looking forward to the car show season (mainly because winter will finally be over!)

Myself, I was going to the store today and got about 3 blocks from home when my transmission started making a noise!  And to think, just when you think things are over . . . . . .

Oh well, at least we have our friends at MCMM club.

Until next time, keep your wheels turning and your gas tanks full!

Charlie Reinhardt

2008 Mustang & All Ford Show

By Quentin Levitte

Last Saturday Pat and I were to fly over to see our son Quentin and spend Easter weekend with family but the weather was bad in WI and the flight was cancelled.  On the way home we couldn’t understand how it could be nice here and how lousy it was a few hundred miles away.

Now with our Easter weekend shot I had nothing planned so I wandered out to the garage and peeked under the cover of the blue ’66 Mustang.  I wondered if it would start . . . so off came the covers and after a little coaxing it started right up.  Pat came out after hearing the car growl to life and wanted to go for the first spring ride.  I like getting the car out each spring, just like hearing the first flock of geese or seeing the first Robin.  It means winter is getting pushed aside.  After our ride Pat mentioned that our annual show was five months away and I had not worked on the show “stuff” for the last couple of weeks.  Now with my thoughts back on the show I sat down to work.

Here is a short update.  The trophy inserts are being printed and should be back to me sometime this week.  I met Gary Riley at the Birch Run village office and we paid for the $225.00 permit to hold our show.  We also touched base with our friends at the Expo Center to make sure the paperwork is correct.  We also discussed getting another couple of food vendors on site next fall.  If you remember some of our participants requested more food vendors.

Pat had an idea for the show that was unique.  Instead of a dash plaque why not use a “cling” like the one we give out when a new member joins.  When I talked to some other members they suggested a nice 3x5 cling that we would place on the passenger side of the windshield after the car is judged.  I’m talking to some folks about prices right now.

On the next nice sunny day get that Mustang out and take it for a ride. . . . you deserve it.
